- Don't do a factory reset. It can wipe the configuration that describes your volumes.

A NAS is not a backup
RAID protects you from one drive failing. It does not protect against deletion, ransomware, theft, a power surge or a second drive failing during the rebuild. Once your data is back, we're happy to talk through a simple backup arrangement so you're never in this position again.
Common questions
My Synology says the volume has crashed. What now?
Don't repair, rebuild or reset from the DSM interface. Power the unit down, label the drives by bay and call us. A crashed volume is very often recoverable as long as nothing is written to the drives.
How long does NAS recovery take?
Most NAS recoveries take 3 to 7 working days, depending on the number and size of the drives and the kind of fault. A priority service is available if the data is urgent.
How much does NAS recovery cost?
The initial consultation is free. A 2TB two-drive NAS (1TB + 1TB) with one drive to repair is £450 + VAT. A QNAP or Synology RAID 5 NAS is £650 + VAT.
Do you need the NAS box or just the drives?
Bring both if you can. We work mainly from the drives, but the enclosure and its settings can help us confirm the original configuration.
Is my data kept confidential?
Yes. Your files are handled in confidence from the moment the device arrives until it's returned to you.
Can you collect a drive from Fulham or Central London?
Collection can be arranged across Fulham and Central London. Call 020 7237 6805 and we'll confirm what's possible for your postcode. You can also bring the device to the workshop at Willow Walk, SE1, Monday to Saturday, 9am to 6pm.
