With its 5K screen, the 27 inch iMac is still a superb machine for design, photo and video work. We repair and upgrade every model from Late 2012 to 2020.
The 27 inch iMac has a door on the back for its four memory slots, so memory is easy to upgrade. Storage is another matter: the drive sits behind the bonded display. The Retina 5K screen arrived in late 2014.

Fusion Drives
Many 27 inch iMacs have a Fusion Drive, which pairs a small SSD with a large hard drive. When the hard drive half fails, the whole volume goes with it. We replace it with a single large SSD, which is faster and has no moving parts.
The 2020 model
The 2020 27 inch iMac has the T2 security chip and solid-state storage that is part of the logic board, so its storage can't be swapped like the earlier models. Its memory can still be upgraded through the door at the back.

Is the repair guaranteed?
Yes. Parts we fit and motherboard repairs carry a 90-day warranty. If the same fault comes back in that time, bring the machine in and we'll put it right.
