MacBook Pro repair, 16 inch 2019 and 13 inch 2020
The last Intel MacBook Pros went back to a proper scissor keyboard. We repair the 16 inch from 2019 and both 13 inch Intel models from 2020.
These models replaced the butterfly keyboard with the Magic Keyboard and brought back a physical Escape key. They have the T2 security chip, storage that is part of the logic board, and powerful Intel processors that produce a good deal of heat.

Heat and fan noise
The 16 inch 2019 model in particular works its fans hard, and dust build-up makes that worse over time. A clean of the fans and heatsink with fresh thermal paste brings temperatures down and makes the laptop noticeably quieter.
If liquid has been spilled
Liquid that gets into the keyboard can reach the logic board directly beneath it.
- Hold the power button until it switches off, and unplug the charger.
- Don't turn it back on to check whether it still works.
- Bring it in as soon as you can. Corrosion starts quickly on a powered board.

Common questions
My 16 inch MacBook Pro is always hot. Is something wrong?
Not necessarily, as these run warm, but it shouldn't throttle or shut down. A thermal service usually helps. If one fan has failed, we replace it.
Can you recover my files if this Mac won't turn on?
On this generation the storage is part of the logic board and is encrypted by the Mac's own security chip, so it can't simply be removed and read. Getting the data back means repairing the logic board far enough to copy it off, which is exactly what our component-level repair is for. See Mac data recovery.
Can you collect my Mac from Fulham or Central London?
Collection and return can be arranged for homes and offices across Fulham and Central London. Ask when you call 020 7237 6805 and we'll confirm what's possible for your postcode. You're also welcome to bring it to the workshop at Willow Walk, SE1, Monday to Saturday.
Is the repair guaranteed?
Yes. Parts we fit and motherboard repairs carry a 90-day warranty. If the same fault comes back in that time, bring the machine in and we'll put it right.
